Complete Event Description:
We'll leave Port Hope at 10:00am. A quick hop across the 401 gets us there in 30 minutes.
This is going to be a BYOC tour -- bring-your-own-chauffeur. Our first winery will be at 11:30am, just a taste of what's to come. Then it's twenty minutes around the tip of the peninsula for lunch at another -- with a full tour too. Then it's another hour drive back along the gorgeous lower roads. Then it's a veritable smorgasbord of wineries -- seven all in a row. See how many you can visit in an hour-and-a-half. Next time you can try to break that record! At 4:30pm, we'll meet at the last one for a cheese and wine reception to discuss your experiences on winery-road.
Please note: small cash required!
All of these wineries have a tasting charge (between $1 and $5 per person). We'll be collecting $15 per person at the start of the day to cover the lunch and reception tastings.
Lunch, wine tasting, and a tour of the facilities. Full steam ahead with the 13th anniversary this year, the winery features wines for all tastes, from crisp dry and semi dry whites to fuller bodied lightly oaked reds, leading to the famous Baco Noir. A new Chocolatier/Gelato Store, featuring specially crafted chocolates made by Donini Chocolates and serving Gelato during the summer months.
90 minutes of freedom amongst seven wineries: Broken Stone, Closson Chase, Lacey Estates, Grange of Prince Edward, Hinterland Wine Company, Trail Estate and Hubbs Creek. Pace yourself. You probably can't visit them all!
We'll regroup for a reception and the final and best tasting! Owned and operated by husband and wife team Richard Karlo and Sherry Martin, is housed in an 1845 post and beam barn, exuding rustic charm. Artisanal wines are paired with nuts, cheese, and other foods. Knowledgeable staff explains each of the selections.
