There are several things you will need to do before registering for this tour, please read the following (if any of the following is confusing, just call or email me for help: 905-852-5514 or markmelcher@trilliummiata.ca)
Start and Finish options The tour starts and finishes at the Tobermory ferry docks (click on the Waypoints tab for location). Depending on your schedule, you may choose a number of pre- and post-tour options: Pre-tour: While it is possible to drive to Tobermory from Toronto, you may want to arrive in the area and stay overnight in Owen Sound or Tobermory. We have a group reservation in Owen Sound, please use the contact information below to make a reservation at the hotel and mention you are a member of Trillium Miata Club group reservation. On Wednesday morning, we will leave Owen Sound in enough time to make the cutoff for ferry reservations in Tobermory. Post-tour: You may want to extend your stay on the island and come home later. If so, we have made arrangements with the Hawberry to extend rooms as needed. An alternative is to stay at the Meldrum Bay Inn on the far northwest tip of the island - food and accommodation is excellent. You may also decide to take the land route to/from the island. The road between Little Current and Espanola is a delight to drive, so you could come home via that longer route. Another alternative is to stay Thursday and Friday on the Bruce Peninsula and join the Creemore Classics Tour on Saturday. See the TMC events calendar for more information on that event.
Hotel Booking - Manitoulin Island Depending
on the choice you've made about pre- and post-tour activities, you need
to book at least one hotel. For the night of August 20, we will be
staying at the Hawberry Motel in downtown Little Current (contact information below). Please tell
the reservation desk you are with the Trillium Miata Club when making your booking. (added July 7) there is a hotel/ferry discount program available. If you tell the Hawberry reservation desk you are taking the ferry, they will reduce your room rate by $5.00 and give you a reference code (about 12 characters) to be used when booking your ferry reservation. Optional Hotel Booking - Owen Sound For those wishing to stay overnight on the way to/from Tobermory, there is a group booking available at the Best Western Inn-on-the-Bay in Owen Sound (about 115 minutes from Tobermory). Contact information is available on the Waypoints tab of this event. Please mention you are with the Trillium Miata Club when making the reservation.
Ferry Bookings Please use the information on the Waypoints tab to make reservations for the ferry. To be part of the tour, please book the 11:20AM from Tobermory on August 20 and the 5:50 PM from South Baymouth on August 21. You can book online or by telephone. You may also decide to travel at different times and meet us on the island. (added July 7) to receive a 10% reduction in ferry fees (click here to see details of the offer), book by calling the customer service number (from the Waypoints tab on this event) and giving them the reference number you received from the Hawberry Motel.
As of July 9, ferry reservations were less than 15% full, so there is plenty of room for us. PLEASE NOTE: you have to be at the ferry dock a minimum of one hour before sailing to keep your reservation.
